Notre Dame Bachelor of Commerce student Meg Syme aspires to be a global marketing consultant and credits the University of Notre Dame Australia for developing her confidence and the skills needed to take on the business world.
"Notre Dame has opened my mind to different thoughts and issues. It's made me think about my actions and how they affect my life and the lives of those around me," she said.
"Notre Dame has provided me with a solid foundation and given me opportunities through its ambassadorship, leadership programs and networking events where I have developed my career skills.
As a final year Commerce student I feel more well-rounded, empowered, and confident heading into the workforce." Meg is just one of many Notre Dame students who rate the national Catholic university highly, as reflected in recent data released by the Federal Government.
The results reveal skills development, quality of educational experience and one of the highest graduate employment rates are some of the findings that set Notre Dame apart.
The newly updated Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching website (qilt. edu.au) enables prospective students to compare information on higher education providers based on the results of surveys completed by current students and recent graduates across Australia.
The website shows Notre Dame has excelled in critical university indicators, including being rated first in Australia for Skills Development at 90.7 per cent, well above the national average of 81 per cent.
Notre Dame is in the top two universities nationally for Overall Quality of Educational Experience (88.5 per cent) and is first in WA in the categories of Student Support, Learner Engagement, Teaching Quality and Graduate Employment Rate (79.2 per cent, well above the national average of 69 per cent).
The median starting salary of Notre Dame graduates is above the national average of $54,000 at $59,800.
Professor Celia Hammond, Notre Dame Vice Chancellor, said the results indicated the university's distinctive approach to education was highly regarded by students, graduates and employers.
"Further to the University's Objects, Notre Dame provides an excellent standard of both pastoral care and education for the professions," Professor Hammond said.
"Students are at the heart of Notre Dame. We have always sought to educate the whole person, to provide an environment where students have the opportunity to develop the theoretical knowledge and the technical skills they need to pursue their chosen professions, yet also grow and flourish as individuals.
"We are delighted to see this approach resonates with our students and employers, as the QILT findings indicate."
