QUEENSLAND idol Vo Rogue has been snubbed again by the Australian Racing Hall of Fame, with another 10 inductees added to the list at a ceremony in Adelaide this week.
Neville Begg and Cecil Godby joined the training ranks, Noel "Digger" McGrowdie and Pat Hyland the jockeys and Les Carlyon and Joe Brown were the associates.
The four horses inducted were 1975 Horse of the Year Leilani, freakish two-year-old Luskin Star, 1900 Ascot Gold Cup winner Merman and the Caulfield Cup winner Sydeston.
The latter is the most relevant comparison to 'Vo', given he raced in the same era.
Both won $3.1 million, but that's where the comparison ends. Vo Rogue (pictured below) won 18 stakes races to Sydeston's nine and six Group 1s to four (not to mention another five that are now rated G1).
But more than that, he was a public idol of the time. A horse that brought people to the track. An excitement machine who not only beat good rivals, but embarrassed them. And in an era of greatness. Super Impose was consistently left languishing in his wake, while Better Loosen Up and Campaign King were others to be scorched by Vic Rail's champ.
