A WA mother has been left heartbroken after Australia Post allegedly lost a piece of jewellery made from her breast milk, placenta and daughter's umbilical cord.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Bunbury woman Kristal, whose surname WAtoday has chosen not to publish, said her parcel was delivered and signed for at an unknown address by mistake.
"This package was needed to be signed for [sic], I was not home at the time so am unsure where my package has gone!," she said.
"It is 'breast milk jewellery' which also has some of my placenta and my daughters [umbilical] cord it in, so as you can imagine this item is very sentimental and I really just want to find it!
"If you've received this, please get in contact with me to return it, no questions asked.
"I am absolutely devastated that this has happened, right before my first Mother's Day."
The jewellery Kristal purchased is similar to that sold by Baby Bee Hummingbirds, an online company based in Adelaide.
A spokeswoman for the company said they had received an "amazing response" from hundreds of Perth mothers wanting handmade breast milk jewellery.
The jewellery Kristal purchased is called 'resting baby' and is valued at $80.
According to Baby Bee Hummingbirds website, the handcrafted keepsake can be infused with preserved breast milk, placenta, cord stump, first curl or ashes.
