When Jasmine Hemsley, a former model, turned 30 seven years ago, the British-born beauty decided to take a once-in-lifetime trip to Australia with her boyfriend, Nick.
And it wasn't long until her younger sister Melissa followed. Having both grown up with a Filipino mother who preached that food was the basis of good health the pair were already passionate about eating well.
But it was Australia that saw that passion turn into an international career. "We got massively inspired," Jasmine says. "We loved being able to go out and eat great food but not in an overpriced setting.
"In the UK all you got was fast food or posh food." "And in Australia people were writing things on their menu like 'grass-fed beef' - I'd never seen that in London before," Melissa adds.
The pair would fantasise about opening a cafe, tossing up names that would be on the door of their own eatery.
On their return to the UK, the sisters used that inspiration to start a food blog, which saw vogue.co.uk sign them to provide weekly recipes.
Cookbooks and a self-titled vegetable spiralizer line followed and now the duo have unveiled a TV series.
Hemsley+Hemsley: Healthy & Delicious had its world premiere in Australia, which the sisters found fitting, given their start in the food industry.
"Ultimately, what (the show) comes down to is that it's delicious food that nourishes you and it's easy to do," Melissa says. "It's what it says in the tin - it's joyous and it's so far from a diet." Next up, they're finally opening their dream cafe in London's exclusive department store, Selfridges.
"When we got back to London we'd kind of forgotten about opening a cafe so that's why it's such a nice story that we're finally getting to open it," Jasmine says. "Being in Australia was a really fun time in our lives."HEMSLEY+HEMSLEY, LIFESTYLE FOOD, MONDAY, 8.30PM
