A SONG that blatantly discusses ecstasy use is hurtling up the Australian charts.
I Took A Pill In Ibiza, by US singer Mike Posner, bulleted to No. 17 on the ARIA charts this week. 
The controversial song hit No. 1 in the UK this week and is No. 10 in the US. Radio stations in Australia have the option of playing a "clean" version, retitled I Took A Plane To Ibiza.
KIIS is one of the local networks playing the "Pill" version, while Nova and Southern Cross Austereo's Hit Network nationally have taken the "Plane" option.
I Took A Pill In Ibiza is No. 9 on iTunes in Australia, although the "Plane" version is not available to purchase.
The lyrics run: "I took a pill in Ibiza to show Avicii I was cool, and when I finally got sober felt 10 years older." Last   August Posner said the lyrics refer to "sort of a mystery pill" he drunkenly took from a fan he met at an concert by Swedish dance superstar DJ Avicii in Ibiza.
"So I took one and I had never done that before, and I felt amazing," he said. "Then when I came down I felt 10 years older."In the UK, BBC's Radio 1 have embraced the song, despite banning The Shamen'sEbeneezer Goode in 1992, the last British No. 1 to directly -reference ecstasy use.
