Groovin' the Moo is in good health. I wanted to type "rude" health but it's such a strange turn of phrase.
Groovin' the Moo Bendigo has sold out, Maitland will sell out soon and Canberra is on track to get rid of all tickets, too. Recently, there have been reports about Townsville's council asking the Queensland State Government to help pay for the extra cost of police presence at the event, a charge not called for in other states.
Let's hope sanity prevails and Townsville can continue packing in 12,000 each year so kids and 20-somethings from a vast area for a great show.
The Bendigo show will be headlined by Boy and Bear, Danny Brown, Mutemath, Ratatat, MS MR and more. Sadly, Twenty One Pilots are playing. Can't win 'em all.
Some Australian newbies have just been added to the bill, joining Client Liaison, REMi, Ngaiire, Harts, Emma Louise, DZ Deathrays and other locals.
See Dylan Joel (left), the poet, producer and spitfire lyricist and upcoming upstart rapper Ivan Ooze, named after a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger, no less. Also on the hike to regional Victoria will be Jack and the Kids, winners of the Triple J Unearthed; last week's Rock City inclusion Olympia, who has a new song, Smoke Signals, that shows off her vocal chops and boasts a very Chemical Brothers meets Kate Bush clip. Melbourne's Tiny Little Houses are another inclusion. Their new single Milo Tin has been released through Ivy League and received a Beats 1 radio premiere, NME online premiere and a spin on Richard Kingsmill's show in the past week.
