RECOGNISING the critical role small and medium enterprises play in the South Australian economy is the foundation of BDO SA's Fast Movers SA competition.
Entries are open until March 18 for SMEs who have enjoyed revenue growth over three years.
Steve Fimmano, lead partner in the private clients division at BDO SA, said the program also gives businesses the chance to broaden their networks.
"What I have noticed over the years is that people who have been involved in the competition bounce ideas off each other and learn from like-minded business people," said Mr Fimmano.
One of the early entrants for this year's competition is Hahndorf business Udder Delights. Director Sheree Sullivan said its cheese business has seen average growth of 48 per cent year-on-year.
While she expects this massive growth to eventually level off, Udder Delights is on track to keep steadily boosting its turnover.
"I think it's certainly down to the vision and the drive we have as owners and leaders and directors of the business," she said.
"Across our business we have 50 permanent staff and we also work with local dairy farmers who are contracted to supply to us.
"We are also really big advocates of being generous and we always make sure our business is giving away money and products and participating in philanthropy." She said Udder Delights also looks to innovate with its products, which include white mould cheeses such as brie and camembert, and its King Saul raw blue cheese which retails for $300/kg.
"It's is our most expensive cheese and we often liken it to Penfold's Grange," added Ms Sullivan.
The top prize for this year's Fast Movers competition is $10,000 cash from Statewide Super. Various other prizes are also up for grabs.Fast Movers 2016 is supported by BDO SA, Brand SA and News Corp, publisher of The Advertiser and Sunday Mail.
