Canada has clinched a major 14-12 upset victory over Australia, thanks to a conversion after the full-time siren at the Canada Sevens event in Vancouver. Leading 12-7 with 23 seconds remaining, Australia's Lewis Holland failed to execute a regulation line-out, which gave Canada one last throw of the dice. After pushing forward to within striking distance, Canada's Adam Zaruba made the most of James Stannard's sin-binning by crossing to equal the scores, before Nathan Hirayama successfully converted to send the home crowd into hysterics. Australia needed to win their final match of the day against Wales to have any chance of winning the tournament. Hirayama and Thunderbolts speedster Allan Fa'alava'au scored the only two tries of the first half. Tom Kingston (left) put Australia up 12-7 with four minutes to go. After two finals in Sydney and Las Vegas, the loss will come as a shock to the side that is without rested captain Ed Jenkins and try-scoring machine Cam Clark. Coach Andy Friend will be hoping his team can employ the same ruthless mindset they showed against Russia whom they crushed 43-5 earlier.
