Former Australian Open champion Jordan Spieth has committed to a third straight appearance in the country's national championship.
The 22-year-old world No.2, who has lost his spot atop the rankings to Australian Jason Day, has committed to headline the tournament at Royal Sydney in November.
"I have really enjoyed my previous visits to Australia and I can't wait to get back in November," Spieth said. "I look back at my win in the 2014 Emirates Australian Open with great memories as it helped me build momentum for 2015.
"The Emirates Australian Open seems to grow in stature among the world's players every year. The field is always strong and Royal Sydney should be a great test."
Spieth fired a mind-boggling final round 63 to win the title in 2014 before coming up just a shot shy of Matt Jones in a nerve-jangling Sunday last year.
He is likely to be one of a number of the world's top-ranked players to use the Australian Open, also set to feature Day's first return to Australia in a number of years as well as perennial contender Adam Scott, as a platform for the World Cup of Golf in Melbourne.
Golf Australia chief executive Stephen Pitt hailed Spieth's arrival as a huge boost for the tournament, which will revert to The Australian Golf Club in 2017, 2019 and 2021 after Royal Sydney takes centre stage this year.
"Jordan is one of the greatest players in today's game and has proven to be exceptionally popular with audiences in Australia and around the globe," Pitt said.
"He has been a great champion of the Emirates Australian Open and came within an inch of defending his title in our thrilling finish last year.
"We are really delighted that he is coming back again and think that he will form part of a very formidable line-up for fans at Royal Sydney."
