I originally hated athletics because of how hard it is but I began training properly with coach Shane Ellis four years ago, after placing second at the interschool cross- country carnival. It was at that point I believed I could go somewhere with the sport.
 What was your happiest moment?
Coming from behind, in sixth place, to win in the final lap of the De Castella 3000m race at the Zapotek:10 event in December. This was big for me because it is regarded as Australia's most prestigious distance event.
What is the thing you love most about running?
There is no one else to blame but yourself when things go wrong. It's such an individual sport that it can be lonely but in my opinion that's what makes winning all the more sweet.
What's the best gift you've ever received?
My first dog, Pugzie. She was a pug cross shih tzu I got for my 10th birthday.
What talent do you wish you had?
I would like to be a genius, the type of person who learns things quickly.
What was the last meal you cooked?
Avocado on toast for breakfast.
If you had the power to change one thing in the world what would it be?
I would stop terrorism.
What is something a coach taught you that you've never forgotten?
My coach taught me that more is not always better and I guess you can embed that into everyday life as well as distance running.
How much time do you spend training?
This season I spend an average of 22 hours training per week.
