The Australian's national crime reporter Dan Box and video producer Eric George have been nominated for a Publish Award for their podcasts about a series of unsolved small-town murders in country NSW. 
Bowraville, which topped the iTunes podcast charts in the weeks after it was released in   May, has been nominated for the prestigious award, which is run by Mumbrella and recognises the best in consumer, business-to-business and custom publishing across print and digital platforms.
The Australian Newsflash app, launched in   March, has also been nominated for best app on mobile or tablet device. The smartphone app provides users with three updates a day, each containing five curated stories intended to provide a broad view of the news of the moment. The content is curated by The Australian's digital news editors.
NewsLifeMedia, NewsCorp Australia's content services business, led the nominations with 20 across the 31 categories, including a nomination for consumer/custom publishing company of the year.
NewsLifeMedia chief executive Nicole Sheffield is in the running for one of the most prestigious awards of the night, the Publish executive of the year.
Other NewsLifeMedia titles such as Vogue, Taste.com.au and GQ are all short-listed in the consumer/custom publishing company of the year category, while Donna Hay, whose food magazine is published by NewsLifeMedia, is short-listed for consumer editor of the year.The winners will be announced at a dinner at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on   September 15.
