AN All Stars women's AFL match featuring the best players from the eight foundation national league clubs is set to be played in 2017.
The national women's league will be played in February and March next year over an eight-week period.
The Demons and Bulldogs will play in an exhibition match in Melbourne at Whitten Oval on September 3 as the showcase match of the AFL pre-finals bye round.
The best players in the country will feature, including the 16 marquee players who are expected to sign with NWL clubs in the next fortnight.

Leading player Daisy Pearce said the reuglar Melbourne-Western Bulldogs fixture match should continue in some form next year, pitching the idea of a game between representative teams that would decide All-Australian selection.
"This could become like an All-Australian hitout, a great opportunity to give the women's game some legs throughout the rest of the season," Pearce said. "Hopefully it evolves to that - I'd like to see it become like an All-Australian squad competing and a team picked after that match." AFL general manager game and market development Simon Lethlean backed the idea. "To have the best 50 women in the competition playing, it's a great showcase, we'll look at it for next year," he said.
"With the season being in Feb- March, it makes sense to have an All Stars game at some stage later in the year." Pearce was hopeful she would remain at Melbourne for next season as one of its two marquee players."Players that don't necessarily have those connections are probably having a lot of conversations and looking forward to it all being concrete," Pearce said.
