FEATHERS are being dusted and glass slippers shined in preparation for the Australian Ballet's tour to London.
The entire company heads off on Friday to perform at the largest theatre on the West End, the Coliseum, where it will present a return season of Graeme Murphy's Swan Lake and a first-time season of Alexei Ratmansky's Cinderella.
Dancers Jacqueline Clark and Shaun Andrew are all packed and ready to fly, before opening at the Coliseum on July 13.
"Touring with the Australian Ballet for the first time is incredibly exciting and, for me personally, there is an extra element of anticipation as I will be returning to London for the first time since leaving the Royal Ballet a year ago," Clark said.
"I am very much looking forward to performing in Graeme Murphy's Swan Lake as this is such a signature masterpiece. The opportunity of going back to the city I called home for 12 years with my new ballet family will surely be a career highlight."For corp de ballet dancer Andrew, it is a thrilling prospect. "I have no doubt that we will all have a fabulous time overseas and I expect to feel as if my eyes have been opened to so many new things," he said.
