VOTERS in Fairfax have shaken off their Clive Palmer hangover, reverting to the Coalition in the Sunshine Coast seat he left gutted by job losses.
The LNP was last night confident of regaining the previously long-held seat. It was won in a boilover in 2013 by the big-talking, big-spending Mr Palmer after Australians took a punt on the fledgling vanity party, created by the businessman after a falling out with the LNP. But the electorate was repaid with chaos and an MP who went missing in action.Mr Palmer, who decided not to run again, had fielded just 14 Senate candidates and one candidate in the House of Representatives.
