IT was always going to come back to bite him. Liberal candidate David Colovic's early gaffe about the "poor end" of Adelaide was plastered over Labor attack posters at booths around the electorate yesterday.
In an attempt to distract from the embarrassing advertising, one Liberal volunteer moved in front of a sandwich board at the polling queue at Enfield Primary School.
Shortly after his preselection in February, Mr Colovic was asked on radio if he could relate to voters in all areas of the 75sq km seat of Adelaide. The insolvency lawyer, of Fitzroy, replied: "I live just off Prospect Rd, I often shop at the poor end." Yesterday, Mr Colovic said he had "done a lot of work across the electorate, particularly the northern parts, to speak to people and get my message across". "One of the things that I want to do is to help all four corners of the electorate," he said. The seat of Adelaide comprises the CBD and suburbs including Prospect, Kilburn, Blair Athol, Clearview, Northfield and Greenacres.
