LABOR'S Linda Burney has become the first indigenous woman to be elected to the House of Representatives.
Ms Burney last night declared she had won the south Sydney seat of Barton. The seat was won by the Coalition's Nick Varvaris in 2013 but became a notional Labor seat after a redrawing of electoral boundaries.Counting showed an early 4"per cent swing to Ms Burney. "Wonderful, wonderful," she said as projections showed her in position to take the seat.
