Martina Hingis has claimed her fifth Australian Open women's doubles title - and her first in 14 years.
The world No.1-ranked pairing of Hingis and Indian Sania Mirza completed their 36th straight victory, downing the Czech pairing of Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka 7-6 (7-1), 6-3 on Friday.
Hingis, 35, has claimed 10 major titles at Melbourne Park - including three on the trot in the singles from 1997-99, five in the doubles and two in the mixed doubles.
The Hingis-Mirza winning streak is the longest in women's doubles since 1990, although they are still way off the remarkable 109-match run by Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver from June 1983 to July 1985.
There were eight breaks of serve in the first set of Friday's final, with the Hingis-Mirza pairing getting their noses ahead by dominating the tiebreak.
Hingis called a medical timeout between sets to receive treatment on a sore right shoulder, although it did not appear to cause her many problems.
There were another six breaks of serve in the second set - four of them by the victors - as the Swiss-Indian combination closed out the win in one hour and 49 minutes.
The formidable partnership of Hingis and Mirza will be targeting a non-calendar year grand slam at the French Open.
"Tennis hopeful Sara Tomic bowed out of the Australian Open juniors tournament on Friday, losing her semi-final against Vera Lapko in straight sets.
The Belarusian was quicker around the court and hit more winners than Tomic, who lost 6-2, 6-3.
But the young Australian did manage four aces and made fewer unforced errors than her opponent.
As the rain came down at Melbourne Park, Tomic's match was moved indoors to Hisense Arena and a small crowd gathered as the game went on.
