KEEP cool this Australia Day as Darwin council celebrates with a special citizenship ceremony and free entry to Nightcliff, Parap and Casuarina Pools. 
Head down to the Darwin Entertainment Centre for a truly Australian flag raising and citizenship -ceremony starting at 10am. Join 67 people from 25 countries as they become Australian citizens.
This moving ceremony will include music from the Australian Army Band, and presentation of awards for Darwin Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Community Event of the Year and Student Citizen Awards.
Darwin council Australia Day Awards provide the community with an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the outstanding contributions individuals make to enhancing community life in Darwin.
The celebrations continue at The Esplanade from noon with a 21-gun salute from the 8/12th Regiment at The Cenotaph and a fly over by the Royal Australian Air Force.
Lord   Mayor Katrina Fong Lim said Australia Day was about celebrating what's great about being Australian.
"It's a day that is supported by our communities, strengthened by our diversity, and driven by our desire to make Australia a better place, now and in the future," she said."I really encourage the community to take part."
