FULL DRAW PAGE 10 Lleyton Hewitt's farewell Australian Open will begin with a clash against fellow Australian James Duckworth.
Meanwhile Australian seeds Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic were both dealt tricky paths to the quarter-finals as the draw for the 2016 Australian Open took place at Melbourne Park on Friday morning.
Hewitt, 34, drew compatriot and fellow wildcard Duckworth in the first round of what is the dual grand slam champion's 20th and final appearance at the event. Should he progress, Hewitt is likely to meet eighth seed and former French Open finalist David Ferrer of Spain in the second round. Tomic, seeded 16, meets Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin in the first round, but is due to meet second seed Andy Murray should both men make it to the fourth round. Firebrand Kyrgios, the 29th seed, faces Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta to open his open, but could meet sixth-seeded Czech Tomas Berdych in the last 32.
Defending champion and top women's seed Serena Williams was given a difficult draw, seeded to play former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki in the round of 16, before a potential rematch of last year's final against Maria Sharapova in the quarter-final. Samantha Stosur faces a qualifier in the first round, but could face the player who beat her at this week's Sydney International - Puerto Rico's Monica Puig - in the second round. Should she progress from there, Stosur would face Agnieszka Radwanska.
