Speaking of class actions, we see an exciting PR opportunity has opened up over the summer at Volkswagen's Australian operations.
The nub of the role is to "deliver positive coverage for the group's products" - which of course includes the almost 100,000 Australian-owned Volkswagen diesel cars that in September were revealed to have been fitted with defeat devices, designed to cheat pollution tests.
At least the job shouldn't be dull. Disgruntled owners have rushed to join a host of class actions against the German behemoth. And in the coming months ACCC chairman Rod Sims will weigh in on whether VW misled customers and sold vehicles in breach of motor vehicle standards.
On the downside, the gig is based in Chullora - not the most fun part of Sydney. Still, as the German taught us so thoroughly last year, nothing's perfect.
