George Bailey says he won't necessarily be using the upcoming limited overs series against India to press his claims for a spot in Australia's World Twenty20 squad, instead hoping selectors have taken note of his recent run-scoring capabilities across all formats. A former Australian T20 captain, Bailey has made it very clear he wants to be in India in March when the national side attempts to win its first World T20 crown. Cricket selections always seem to be made with an eye to the future, but with a tournament in which Australia have never tasted success on the horizon, there has been encouraging talk of dismissing age as a factor and relying on the skills of players who find themselves on the wrong side of 30. One man who would love to see that happen is Bailey. "I don't use [this series] it to push it [my selection case] forward, but certainly scoring runs would be nice," Bailey said. "With a World Cup around the corner, I'd love to be a part of it and try and drop as many subtle hints as I can in front of [Aaron] Finchy and I'm pretty sure the selectors know I'm not retired now, so that's a step in the right direction."
