Melbourne City Mission said Mr Asif's brother Rameez and his mother were with him when he died and "had been a constant and loving presence" since their arrival in Australia on December 29. On behalf of his mother and family inLahore, Rameez Asif expressed thanks for the care and support Hassan, who had been too sick to fly home, received, and for the chance to be reunited with him. "It was like a dream come true to be with Hassan," he said. "We literally lost hope when our visas got rejected, but we still made it to Australia."
