Australia have pulled out of the Under-19 World Cup over the same security fears that led to the abandonment of last year's Test tour to Bangladesh.
As predicted by The West Australian last month, Australia withdrew from the event, which begins on January 27, after a negative security report.
Other teams now are considering their options.
CA security head Sean Carroll inspected grounds in Bangladesh last week, while chief executive James Sutherland indicated the country was no safer now than when the Test tour was cancelled in October.
"Regrettably, the advice from our government suggests that the security threat to Australians travelling to Bangladesh remains as high now as it was when we postponed the Test team's tour of that country late last year," Sutherland said.
The Australian squad, including West Australians Clint Hinchliffe, Jhye Richardson, Brooke Guest and Kyle Gardiner, is due to travel to the United Arab Emirates next week to contest a tri-series with Pakistan and New Zealand.
