AN Australian female aid worker was kidnapped at gunpoint by a group of men in military uniforms in war-torn Afghanistan, it was reported late last night. 
The employee, said to be working in the "handicrafts department" of a global non-profit group was abducted from an office in Jalalabad. The woman, whose name has not been released, had been travelling through region without -security, authorities said.
"She was kidnapped by unknown gunmen but it is not clear who kidnapped her or where she was taken," said Attaullah Khogya, spokesman for the provincial governor.
A Department of -Foreign Affairs and Trade spokeswoman said it was working to confirm the -abduction report.No groups had claimed responsibility last night.
