A former Australian professional tennis player has avoided jail for fixing a match in Queensland in 2013 and then attempting to conceal his actions from police. Nick Lindahl, 27, was convicted of using corrupt conduct information and fined $1000 in Burwood Local Court on Monday for his involvement in a match fixing scandal at the Toowoomba Futures tournament in September 2013. Lindahl was arrested in February last year. Lindahl told his friend and former tennis player Matthew Fox and Ryan Wolfenden of his plan to tank his match against qualifier Andrew Corbitt knowing they would bet on the outcome. Sportingbet became suspicious and suspended betting. In June 2014, police intercepted a telephone call in which Lindahl told Fox to delete evidence of their communications. Both charges carried a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.
