The Australians arrested in Lebanon over the bungled repatriation operation have appeared before an interrogating judge as Australian ambassador Glenn Miles met the country's Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil. Mr Bassil said he had given instructions to form a joint Lebanese-Australian committee to resolve the custody case of the two children. He expressed hope that the incident "would not have an impact on Lebanese-Australian relations".
Channel Nine reporter Tom Steinfort said the 60 Minutes crew were facing four charges: hiding information; forming an association with two or more people to commit a crime against a person; kidnapping or holding a minor even with their approval; and physical assault. If convicted they face jail terms of three to 20 years.
