SIMPSON PRIZE THE QUESTION "The experience of Australian soldiers on the Western Front in 1916 has been largely overlooked in accounts of the First World War." To what extent would you argue that battles such as Fromelles and PoziÃ¨res should feature more prominently in accounts of the First World War?
YEAR 9 and 10 students throughout Australia are invited to enter the 2017 Simpson Prize competition, which is conducted yearly by the History Teachers' Association of Australia and funded by the Australian Government Department of Education.
Students are invited to respond to the above question using both the Simpson Prize Australian War Memorial Source Selection online (www.awm.gov.au/education/simpson-prize) and their own research.
Students can either write an essay or create a multimedia presentation.
Essay word limit: 1200- 1500 words, not including supplementary information such as a contents page, references, bibliography and appendices.
Audio Visual Presentation word and time limit: No more than 10 minutes accompanied by a written explanation of up to 400 words.
