An Australian has drowned in the Mentawai islands in Indonesia a week after surfer Ron Schneider was killed in a surfing accident at a nearby beach. Mentawai police chief Reko Indro Sasongko said Australian tourist Adam Albert Dube (pictured) drowned after swimming at a surf spot at Berimanua Cove. He said Mr Dube was among a group of nine tourists who went swimming in the ocean after midnight on Wednesday morning after consuming alcohol. "After they all finished swimming, they couldn't find the victim. They searched for him until morning when they found him not far from the boat." Mr Dube's sister Sophie told Fairfax Media: "He was so well loved by so many people around the globe and he will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him." The Mentawai Islands, a small and remote archipelago 150 kilometres off the coast of Sumatra, is a popular destination for surf charters. Mr Reko warned everybody to be careful and not underestimate the waves and strong currents. theage.com.au-Read more
