Holden has begun the teaser campaign for its last-ever Australian-produced Commodore. A shadowy black and white teaser image appeared on the red team's Facebook page at the weekend, along with the words "greatest Commodore ever". The Series II VF will officially go on sale September 13 and is expected to be the last major revision to the range before Holden ceases its manufacturing operations in Australia in 2017. The image shown appears to be one of Holden's sportier Commodore models - the SV6 or the SS - and reveals small evolutionary tweaks to the VF's front grille, along with a new bumper design and carryover headlight design.
The bigger changes will be found under the Commodore's bonnet. Holden is expected to confirm a new 6.2-litre LS3 V8 for its flagship models. The new bent-eight will be the same as that found on the American-specific Chevrolet SS models. It is expected the updated SS Commodore will produce more than 300kW of power, well up on the 270kW (automatic 260kW) offered on the fleet's evergreen 6.0-litre V8. As revealed by Drive in June, Holden's performance arm HSV is also expected to announce changes to its range to coincide with the Commodore's power fillip. Fairfax Media has been told that a similar supercharger pack offered on the HSV GTS will be extended to other models within HSV range.
