The University of Notre Dame Australia, established in 1989, is a national Catholic university in the heart of Fremantle's historic west end. Notre Dame is a university that is "in the world and for the world", with students seeking to play an active role in the local, national and international community. The university has a student population of more than 11,000 across its campuses in Fremantle, Broome and Sydney. CORE CURRICULUM In pursuit of the university's Objects, and to encourage critical thinking among students, Notre Dame requires all undergraduate students to study units in philosophy, theology and ethics. INTERNATIONAL LINKS Through Notre Dame's Study Abroad and Experience the World programs, students can study overseas at one of Notre Dame's partner universities in the US, Canada, Taiwan, South Korea, the UK and Europe. Students can also donate their time and skills to make a difference in their community through Notre Dame's extensive range of volunteer projects.

SPORT FACILITIES The university has a recreation hall. It also has a gymnasium for use by students studying a healthrelated degree. Notre Dame is part of the Elite Athlete Friendly Network, which supports Australia's elite athletes who wish to also achieve excellence academically Students can also take part in intra-university sports such as netball, futsal (indoor soccer) and touch football, with representative teams participating in annual sporting events.
