A Perth university has developed a quieter, more environmentally friendly way to hit the water.
This jet ski, unveiled by students from the University of Western Australia, isn't like the others.
This one runs on electricity.
Director of the project, Professor Thomas Braunl, said an electric-powered jet ski can offer a quieter experience compared to a petrol-powered one, and it produces zero emissions.
"Everybody likes jet skis, but everybody hates jet skis because of the pollution and the noise. This way, we take the two negatives away," he said.
"We have worked for more than two years on this project, and the major challenge was to make everything water-tight and safe, from batteries, to switches and motor controllers".
The prototype carries close to eight kilowatt-hours of energy in lithium-ion batteries - a drive time of around half an hour.
If 30 minutes of skidding along the water isn't enough, a future charging system could bring the recharging process down to seven minutes.
He said the watercraft could become popular with eco-tourism operators, as well as an option for lakes around the world where petrol-powered boats are banned.
"I think there is definitely going to be a market for these areas," he said.
