POLICE in 30 countries have arrested 179 crime figures in a co-ordinated strike to smash a plot to traffic almost three tonnes of cocaine and 250kg of -ecstasy across the globe, including to Australia. 
Europop, the European Union's law enforcement group, yesterday hailed its broad two-week Operation Amber a success in seizures made and as an example of international co-operation to tackle organised crime.
In the global operation that involved Australian Federal Police in Europe and Australia, 250kg of synthetic drugs were seized, including 32kg of -ecstasy seized in Australia -arriving in four postal parcels, each containing 8kg, sent from the Netherlands.
Three men were arrested for that in Holland and further arrests are expected to follow in Australia.The operation also targeted firearms, people and luxury car smuggling and drug smuggling in sea cargo at ports as well as parcels through postal and courier services.
