BERNARD Leser, the founder of Vogue Australia has died, aged 90. The German-born publishing pioneer launched the magazine in 1959 after being headhunted by Conde Nast to launch an Australian version of the magazine. 
His daughter Deborah -revealed the sad news on Facebook yesterday, writing: "With a very heavy heart I am so sad to say, my very special father Bernie passed away peacefully at home this afternoon. He was courageous, charming and erudite to the end. Love him forever." Vogue Australia editor -Edwina McCann was among industry identities paying tribute to the former Conde Nast president following the news.
"Vogue Australia wouldn't exist without Bernie," she told The Daily Telegraph.Publisher Deborah Thomas offered her condolences to the family, writing: "He was an extraordinary man who led an extraordinary life. How lucky to have known him and spent time enjoying his company."
