Two of The Australian's senior sportswriters have been recognised for their work at the Australian Sports Commission's annual media awards. 
Simon King won the award for best analysis of the business of sport for an article on former investment banker Matt Allen's bold reform of the governance structure at Yachting Australia.
Will Swanton won best coverage of sport by an individual - print, for a body of work including coverage of Jason Day's US PGA Championship victory, a profile of Phillip Hughes, opinion and analysis on Nick Kyrgios and Bernard Tomic, an interview with Steve Smith and a tribute to Richie Benaud.
The Australian's longtime former cricket columnist Mike Coward was presented with the lifetime achievement award for his contribution to sports journalism.
Coward, who previously was chief cricket writer at The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald, has covered the sport for more than four decades.The awards were presented at a dinner in Melbourne on Thursday night attended by federal Sports Minister Sussan Ley.
