AUSTRALIAN owners of Volkswagen vehicles found to have software that can cheat emissions are being denied any compensation even though US buyers have already each received a $500 voucher.
The troubled car maker has outlined upgrades to more than 80,000 affected cars in Australia, with roll-out of the updates to start in late   January.Newly-appointed managing director of Volkswagen in Australia, Michael Bartsch, told The Advertiser no decision had been made on what compensation would be offered to local owners. "What they're dealing with in the US is nothing like what we're dealing with here in Australia," he said.
