H e has been the bookmaker's favourite ever since he made The X Factor's top 12 and then won more standing ovations than any other act.
So it was hardly a surprise when Cyrus Villanueva was named the singing talent show's 2015 winner last night.
The 19-year-old claimed the title in the grand final, beating country mum Louise Adams , who finished runner-up, and loved-up duo Jess Dunbar and Matt Price .
Villanueva had a perfect run in the competition, scoring so many votes from the viewers each week that he was not once in the bottom two.
And it seems the so-called "Cyrus virus" will continue into the future, with the Wollongong teen's debut single Stone released on iTunes after the show.
As part of his prize, Villanueva has won a recording contract with Sony and is now expected to rush release his winner's album so it is on shelves within weeks.
The graphic design student was mobbed on stage by his family and the top 12 contestants after the verdict was announced and he struggled to perform his new single through tears of joy.
Reflecting on his journey in the series, Villanueva was full of praise for the people who helped support him, including mentor Chris Isaak .
"I can't thank everyone enough, honestly," he said.
Another highlight from the finale was the first joint TV performance from X Factor judge Dannii Minogue and her sister Kylie in almost 30 years.
The star siblings took to the stage to perform 100 Degrees, which is the first single from the elder Minogue's new record, Kylie Christmas.
Wearing matching mirrored dresses, the women shimmied their way through the disco track as their proud parents watched on from the audience.
Kylie said it was "amazing" to be singing alongside Dannii again, 29 years after they belted out Sisters Are Doing it for Themselves on Young Talent Time.
"We have been excited and a little bit nervous because this is a big moment for us," she said.
