THE Norwegian backpacker who died in this week's Esperance bushfires "loved Australia".
"She was so intelligent, so passionate, so thrilled to be in Australia and doing what she loved the most," Anna Winther's younger sister, Kateryna Sushchova, told The Sunday Times.
Ms Winther, 29, graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and a Masters in human rights.
As part of her visa conditions she had to work 88 days in the outback to prolong her stay.
She had been working as a cook at the property of farmers Linda and David Campbell.
"She loved the farm," Ms Sushcova said. "She told us how nice the people were, how beautiful it was and how much she loved to walk the horse after her errands.
"Anna was always thinking about the environment and was thrilled to tell us that the farm was all organic." Mr Winther died alongside her two international colleagues - 31-year-old British man Tom Butcher and 19-year-old German woman Julia Kohrs-Lichte.
The trio was trying to save a horse named Cougar, owned by Mr Butcher's girlfriend.
It is believed they were overcome by the smoke and flames when their vehicle overturned."We will forever miss you, Anna," Ms Sushcova said. "All of us. You will never be forgotten. Until we meet again."
