AUSTRALIA Post has been rocked by allegations of endemic racism after it was revealed a manager routinely referred to workers as "black b*stards" and "slaves".
And in a damning Federal Circuit Court judgment, the organisation has been slammed for failing to act to stamp out the scourge.
Courier Viswanathan Murugesu took legal action against Australia Post after being racially abused by senior manager John Boyle while working as a subcontractor between 2008 and 2011.
Both Australia Post and Mr Boyle defended the claim, but in a yet to be published judgment, the court found in favour of Mr Murugesu.
Now he says the landmark judgment could open the floodgates for a raft of disgruntled employees.
Judge Philip Burchardt said senior figures in Australia Post had refused to act on complaints of racial vilification.Arnold, Thomas & Becker lawyer Joseph Ridley, who represented Mr Murugesu, said Australia Post's failure to act was stunning.
