HOBART'S sizzling summer of entertainment just got even hotter, with the John Butler Trio, The Waifs and San Cisco set to play in St David's Park on Australia Day.
The three popular Western Australian bands will perform on the same bill for the first time on Tuesday January 26, joined by Hobart's 2013 Telstra Road to Discovery winner Christopher Coleman.
The John Butler Trio has spent this year touring its latest album Flesh + Blood to fans around the world, The Waifs' acclaimed seventh album Beautiful You has been nominated in three categories at the upcoming ARIA Awards, and young indie-pop group San Cisco has been touring internationally to promote its second album Gracetown.
Promoter Charles Touber - who has previously run large-scale events including the Gone South festival and Hobart's 2001 AC/DC gig - is behind the concert, which has the support of the Hobart City Council.
"St David's Park is a city icon loved by locals and tourists alike for its history and character and is a wonderful setting for a concert," Lord Mayor Sue Hickey said.
"This will be the first time St David's Park will host a major music event and with acts of the calibre proposed, is sure to be popular."The licensed all-ages concert will run from 1.30pm until 8pm. Tickets are limited to 3500 and cost $80 for adults and $30 for children aged 5-15 (kids under 5 admitted free) and go on sale at 9am Monday from www.oztix.com.au
