Big Bash League could be the summer's most competitive cricket, says stalwart Brad Hodge. "It's probably going to be, unfortunately," Hodge (left) said in Adelaide on Wednesday. But the 40-year-old, who has re-signed with the Adelaide Strikers, isn't worried about the Twenty20 tournament overshadowing what looms as a lopsided Test series between Australia and the West Indies. "I don't think overshadowing. I think it complements it pretty well," he said. "The competition, what Cricket Australia have done running it over the Christmas and New Year period, is very strong. There's a lot of following, the numbers are there from children to women to families. Everyone gets involved. It's a great tournament, a good spectacle and the players love it. So it's a pretty good recipe for success." The West Indies will arrive with little expectation of challenging Australia in a Test series played at the same time as the BBL. "Everyone I guess is screaming out for some competition," Hodge said. " Home ground advantage is important . . . whenever any touring side comes here to play, it's tough, it's tough competition and we have got some pretty good players."
