It seems to be a golden age for Australian punters in the USA, as Tom Hackett claims his second consecutive Ray Guy award for the top college football performer in the position.

Hackett, 23, is in his senior year at Utah and became just the third punter to win the coveted award on multiple occasions. The last man to do so was Louisiana Tech's Ryan Allen, who currently punts for the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.
The Victorian native was also named to the Pac-12's All-Century team, meaning the judging panel deemed him the greatest punter to ever play in that college conference. He shared the honour of appearing on this team with many NFL legends such as John Elway, Jonathan Ogden, Tony Gonzalez and Ronnie Lott, as well as current stars Terrell Suggs, Andrew Luck and Marcus Mariota.
The Ray Guy award is named for the former Oakland Raiders and Southern Mississippi legend, whose punting saw him named in both the Pro Football and College Football Halls of Fame. He is widely regarded as the greatest to ever play the position.
Hackett will likely find himself with an NFL gig in 2016, joining fellow Australian punters Brad Wing (New York Giants) and Jordan Berry (Pittsburgh Steelers). Fellow Australians Jamie Keehn (LSU, punter) and Dave Gotsis (Defensive Tackle, Georgia Tech) are also highly touted prospects.
Great stuff from Tom Hackett. One of our best ever Punters already. https://t.co/rjVxEvFqzK

After accepting the award, Hackett said his dislike of running was a big factor in his development as a punter. "Deep down, I'm fat," he said on Thursday night.
"I had a better feeling this year than I did last year."
