Budding Canberra tennis star Annerly Poulos pushed 14-year-old Amber Marshall all the way in the 14-under Australian championships girls singles final, despite being two years younger.
Marshall had only lost 15 games in her five previous matches, but Poulos provided the No.1 seed with a far greater test in the 7-6, 7-5 victory in Melbourne on Thursday.
Poulos's next test will be representing the ACT in the 14-under Australian team championships, which starts in Melbourne on Friday, alongside Matina Ujdur.
Sam Bisa, Jack Lyons and Daniel Zhang will play in the ACT's 14-under boys team, while Nick Bisa, Dominic Ferraris and Charlie Snow will play in the 12-under boys and Alyssa Simoncini, Ashleigh Simes and Chloe Koundouris are in the 12-under girls.
