Some of Australia's elite limited-overs players, including captain Steve Smith (right), will have to wait another week to discover whether they have a new home in the Indian Premier League following the suspension of their teams. Chennai and Rajasthan were suspended for the 2016 and 2017 IPL seasons after betting breaches by team owners, leaving a number of players in limbo, including Rajasthan's Smith, Shane Watson and James Faulkner. IPL organisers this week confirmed the Super Kings and Royals would be replaced in 2016 and 2017 by new teams based in Pune and Rajkot. And while the bulk of players for these new teams will be purchased in the player auction on February 6, Pune and Rajkot will be allowed to select their teams from the players left stranded by the Chennai and Rajasthan suspensions. The new teams will each choose five players in the draft, to be held on December 15, in which they will alternate picks. Because of IPL rules limiting overseas players, the Indian players will almost certainly be picked first. M.S. Dhoni is expected to be first, then Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, R. Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, Ashish Nehra and Sanju Samson.
