DARYL HUTCHINS, 53, Inglewood On Saturday   January 2, 2015, during the Sampson Flat fires, Daryl Hutchins rescued almost 30 dogs from the burning kennels of Tea Tree Gully Boarding Kennels and Cattery. Daryl lost his two dogs in the fire. He has dedicated 22 years of service to the Paracombe CFS and is the longest serving captain for the brigade. 
BRENDAN MCEVOY, 64, and MICHELLE MCEVOY, 47, Stirling Brendan and Michelle McEvoy put their first aid training to the test when their neighbour had a heart attack. Michelle performed CPR on the man while Brendan called for help and then revived him with a defibrillator. The 46-year-old has made a full recovery.
THOMAS WALSH, 28, One Tree HillThomas Walsh has been with the One Tree Hill CFS since he was 16 and was appointed as one of the youngest captains in the state only six months before the Sampson Flat bushfires hit earlier this year. Tom initiated food and water drops to residents who had stayed behind and risked his life to help residents escape the flames.
