Australia is becoming a nation and an economy of significant sovereign risk. We are in the process of trashing one of our most important reputational strengths - that foreign companies, and foreign governments, which sign agreements with Australia, can rely on them being honoured. 
Three giant Australia-foreign economic interactions in the past six months are shaping a new reputation for Australia as a very difficult place to do productive new business: the cancellation of the East West link in Melbourne, the campaign against the Adani mine in Queensland and now the xenophobic fear campaign against the free-trade deal with China. We are in danger of reacquiring our doleful, damaging reputation of the 70s.
