Australia is becoming a nation and an economy of significant sovereign risk. We are in the process of trashing one of our most important reputational strengths - that foreign companies, and foreign governments, which sign agreements with Australia, can rely on them being honoured. 
Three giant Australia-foreign economic interactions in the past six months are shaping a new reputation for Australia as a very difficult place to do productive new business: the cancellation of the East West link in Melbourne, the campaign against the Adani mine in Queensland and now the xenophobic fear campaign, against the free trade deal with China. We are in danger of re-acquiring the doleful, damaging reputation we had in the 1970s.
