It was only a few weeks ago the government stated it would be beneficial and financially responsible for Australian shipbuilding to be undertaken offshore, not in Australia. Presented with the possibility of becoming rejected by the public if that policy were adopted, the government seem to be reversing that decision and signing a $90 billion tax payer contract as a result.
Does this reversal not prove some government decisions are based on the effect policy decisions have on their individual positions instead of their responsibility to the Australian populace?
It is not intended to infer that South Australia should not originally have been or is not entitled to this employment opportunity. Instead it is intended to emphasise the inability of the government to be responsible and fiscally accountable.
