The hiring practices of more than 3000 contractors used by Australia Post could be subject to an audit by the national postmaster as it investigates how one of its major delivery partners was -allowed to rort immigration visas and defraud the commonwealth of millions of dollars. 
The necessity to scrutinise every one of its third-party contractors is being considered as part of a review by former -Victoria Police chief commissioner Ken Lay, who will investigate how Australia Post failed to identify a Victorian contractor charged yesterday by the Australian Federal Police for running an alleged criminal syndicate that rorted visas and -exploited foreign students as cheap postal delivery drivers.Australia Post managing -director Ahmed Fahour said while no customer was affected and no money was taken from the postal agency, it was necessary to review the company's handling of the incident.
